Humanitarian. Handicapped
Support of handicapped children from
birth is one of the main programs of Progress Links.
It is one of the reasons for creating Progress Links. Our dedication is to
serve these children physically, morally and materially.

VICTORIA
Victoria is 21 years old. Besides
suffering from infant cerebral paralysis, she is both deaf and dumb. She
suffers from tremors. To prevent her from falling from her wheelchair, a towel
is tied between the 2 arms as seen in the picture. Her parents would welcome
an adjustable (orthopaedic) wheelchair specially made for support and comfort
of invalids.
From the moment of its creation,
Progress Links has continued to find the necessary means for improving the
health and life in general of handicapped children of Moscow district in Kiev.
These unfortunate, disabled children live in poor families that are unable to
buy medicines or invalid carriages necessary for their movement as well as
other necessary equipment. Our aid includes providing them with food items, hygienic
towels, medical and other materials per their request.
EUGENE
Eugene, a 21 year-old
university student, is suffering from infant cerebral paralysis. He also
suffers from myopathy. His dream is to have a computer to enable him to put his
idea of creating a society for the handicapped into
action.
The greater quantity of medicines ordered for treatment of these
children are imported from Western Europe. They are quite expensive and not
easily affordable.
Parents of these children are informed
of the opportunities of treatment which are given in some centers of
rehabilitation which they also cannot afford.
NIKOLAI
Nikolai also suffers from
infant cerebral paralysis. Not long ago, he lost his father, who was his main
support.
Some parents have
prepared the necessary documents to send their children for help
but they could not due to financial difficulties.
The same reason explains why it is not possible to organize
stays in Mirgorod sanatorium where children enjoy fresh air, the sea and
really favorable ecological conditions to regain their health.

PAUL
Paul is 14 years old. He
also suffers from cerebral paralysis. His mother prepared all needed documents
to take him to a rehabilitation center. Unfortunately, this idea could
not be realized due to inadequate funds. An expert has hinted that he has a high
chance of recovering if he is able to visit the rehabilitation center. This
would make his dream of mobility and playing a living reality.
Our limited financial assets do not allow
us to cover all these needs. Therefore, we invite persons or organizations, who
are sensitive to the needs of these children and their families to join us in
our efforts to improve the quality of their lives.
